The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness ofxenicaloral use in reducing the incidence and/or progression of gastric ulcers in obese adults.
This is a retrospective chart review study of adult patients withH. pyloriinfection aged ≥12 years at a time of diagnosis. The study was conducted on 1,077 obese subjects aged ≥20 years withinfection treated for a mean of 12.1 ± 6.8 years, with no additional follow-up needed.
The incidence of gastric ulcers was significantly reduced in thegroup (n = 726, 95% CI, 1.7 to 1.4) compared to the other treatment groups (n = 1,063, 95% CI, 1.3 to 1.7). There was no significant difference in the number of gastric ulcer events betweengroups and placebo groups (n = 1,063, 95% CI, 0.6 to 1.2). The risk of gastric ulcer was significantly reduced in patients treated withoral compared with placebo (P< 0.001).
Although the efficacy oforal treatment in reducing the incidence of gastric ulcers is unknown, it is recommended for use in obese patients.
The efficacy ofhas been investigated in the management of gastric ulcers in the long-term setting. It was shown that a single dose oforal significantly reduced the incidence of gastric ulcers, and that it reduced the progression of gastric ulcers compared to placebo in obese patients withinfection. The treatment ofinfection is associated with the development of gastric ulcers, and the efficacy oftreatment in the long-term setting has not been well studied.
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effectiveness oforal use in reducing the incidence and/or progression of gastric ulcers in obese patients.infection treated for a mean of 12.1 ± 6.8 years.
There is limited data on the efficacy oforal in reducing the incidence or progression of gastric ulcers. Our study focused on obese subjects aged ≥20 years at the time of diagnosis. Patients withinfection treated for a mean of 12.1 ± 6.8 years were divided into two groups, one withinfection and the other withinfection, which had no additional follow-up needed to rule out any further gastric ulcers.group (n = 726, 95% CI, 1.7 to 1.4), and the treatment withoral reduced the number of gastric ulcer events (n = 1,063, 95% CI, 0.6 to 1.2) compared to the other treatment groups (n = 1,063, 95% CI, 0.6 to 1.2).
Our study demonstrated thatoral treatment in obese patients was effective in reducing the incidence and/or progression of gastric ulcers in an obese population with no additional follow-up needed to rule out any further gastric ulcers. The use oforal was also associated with a significant reduction in gastric ulcer events compared to placebo (n = 1,063, 95% CI, 0.6 to 1.2).
The overall prevalence of gastric ulcers was significantly lower in thegroup (n = 726, 95% CI, 1.
